Hearst Castle Closed Due To Emergency Road Repairs

Due to significant storms that caused damage to the roadway leading up to the Historic Monument, Hearst Castle is temporarily closed. California State Parks is dedicated to making sure that all measures are taken to insure visitor safety. We have activated an emergency contract process to expedite the necessary road repairs. The work is expected to take 6 to 9 months. Once completed, Hearst Castle will welcome back visitors.

Hearst Castle tours and the Visitor Center is currently closed. When we reopen, advanced reservations will be required to visit Hearst Castle and/or the Visitor Center

From experiencing what life was like as a guest of W. R. Hearst to exploring his personal collection of rare and ancient works of art, encounter the majesty and beauty of this historical treasure first-hand with a guided Hearst Castle tour. We also offer accessibly designed tours for visitors.

Visitors may remain on the hilltop between and following the daytime tours to enjoy the gardens and visit the Neptune and Roman Pools at their leisure.

Hearst Castle also offers a variety of options for group tours and school tours.
