Following guidance from the California Department of Public Health and local public health authorities, we are increasing public access and services in a phased approach at Hearst Castle®/Hearst San Simeon State Historical Monument®. Hearst Castle tours and the Visitor Center is currently closed. When we reopen, advanced reservations will be required to visit Hearst Castle and/or the Visitor Center

Piedras Blancas Lighthouse

Built in the 1870s, the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse is still in operation today, having undergone major restoration beginning in 2010 to help bring it back to its original glory. This work continues today.

Light Station Tours and Special Events

Guided tours of the Piedras Blancas Light Station and special events are open to the public and are offered throughout the year.

Directions from Hearst Castle

Piedras Blancas Light Station is located approximately six miles north of Hearst Castle, just off California Highway 1 in San Simeon, CA. Tours depart from the former Piedras Blancas Motel, which is 1.5 miles north of the Lighthouse, and about 7.5 miles from Hearst Castle.
