After admiring the vast San Simeon coastline from Hearst Castle, head back down the hill and out to California Highway 1 to experience some of California’s most beautiful beaches. Unspoiled, uninhabited and carved by the crashing Pacific Ocean waves, San Simeon’s pristine beaches are breathtaking.
William R. Hearst Memorial Beach
Splash around the water, suit up for surfing, build a sandcastle on the beach, fish off the 1,000-foot pier or just sit back and have a picnic on nearby benches. This beach once belonged to W. R. Hearst himself, but it was donated by Hearst Corporation in 1953 for all to enjoy. This beach is located directly across Highway 1 from the entrance to Hearst Castle and also features the Coastal Discovery Center.
Other Area Beaches
Because San Simeon is situated along the magnificent coastal stretches of the Pacific Coast Highway, you’ll see turnoff points and small parking lots as you drive along Hearst San Simeon State Park. Head to any one of the these areas to stand atop towering bluffs to watch the sea ebb and flow along the unspoiled coastline.
