Hearst Castle Closed Due To Emergency Road Repairs

Due to significant storms that caused damage to the roadway leading up to the Historic Monument, Hearst Castle is temporarily closed. California State Parks is dedicated to making sure that all measures are taken to ensure visitor safety. We have activated an emergency contract process to expedite the necessary road repairs. The work is expected to take 6 to 9 months. Once completed, Hearst Castle will welcome back visitors. To learn more, please visit our News/Projects page.

Hearst Castle tours and the Visitor Center is currently closed. When we reopen, advanced reservations will be required to visit Hearst Castle and/or the Visitor Center

The Hearst and Hollywood Tour is offered seasonally and is not available during the summer. Please look for the return of this tour in the fall.

From Hollywood’s Golden Age to the new era of international rock stars and computer-generated imagery, Hearst Castle and its charismatic creator have exerted an irresistible magnetism.  In its heyday, San Simeon was the destination of choice for Hollywood’s elite.  William Randolph Hearst and his companion, actress Marion Davies, extended coveted invitations to the time-honored greats of the movie industry: Charlie Chaplin, Cary Grant, Greta Garbo, Irving Thalberg, Bette Davis, Clark Gable, and many others.  On this semi-private tour, you will enjoy two hours at the Castle with a knowledgeable guide who focuses on Hearst and all things Hollywood.  Any area that is shown on any of the four regular daytime tours can be visited at the group’s request.  Come to experience the Enchanted Hill that inspired the gossip columnist Hedda Hopper to say, “A visit to the Hearst Ranch was a ticket to never-never land.  Never has there been such a place and never will we see its like again.”

The Hearst and Hollywood tour will not be run during our peak period from June 1st through September 30th. The tour will resume on October 1st, 2019.
